Welcome to InsideRIA! I am very excited to be part of this great new resource for people trying to learn about making digital experiences better for everyone! Before I let you know what I intend to contribute here, I'd like to tell you a little bit about my background:

My name is Tony MacDonell. I am partner, CTO, strategist, and often project lead, at Teknision Inc. For the last ten years, I have been working in the field of experience design and development, working on hundreds of projects, ranging from content creation, online games, rich internet applications, kiosks, mobile interfaces, etc. I have a strong background in graphic design, experience design, software development, and have been graced over the years to work with many professionals that are the best of the best in these disciplines.

Here on InsideRIA, I intend to spend a lot of time discussing the "why" (because without the "why" we are powerless...). We are innundated with a plethora of new technologies and services everyday, and there are often so many technical details to discuss, that the reasons why these technologies matter can be lost in the commotion.

I would like to attract readers that are not only rich internet application developers, but also designers, project managers, strategists, writers, and everyday people that use computers. I would like to build conversation around what all of this technology is really adding up to be, I would like to discuss how it is actually benefiting people, and I would love to discuss where it is all headed in the future.

There is a vision for the Rich Internet Applications out there in the industry, but now that many players are coming into the arena, that vision is blurring, and the concept ends up being anything anyone wants it to be. InsideRIA has an opportunity to solidify the many emerging communities of people influencing or being influenced by this movement. I am very excited about the idea of exploring these ideas and visions across communities, and adding my voice and experience to the conversation.
