Tomorrow afternoon I am going to be having a chat with a few of the guys from SlideRocket. If you aren't familiar with it - SlideRocket is a Flash/Flex based RIA that really does online presentation creation and delivery right. They are currently in private beta. Let me know if there are any questions that you would like me to ask.

Will be there any planes for SlideRocket on AIR?

Rick Mason said:

I'm interested in an AIR version as well. I believe they've said yes they plan on doing this. But mostly I'm interested because I'd like to see offline support. I hate counting on internet access at presentation location.

Other things that I'm not sure they have now that I'm interested in are other ways to get the presentation offline, printing features, pdf or ppt export, export slides as images.

Information on what the business model might be. Ad driven, pay service, free for one presentation, pay for more?

When can we expect to see a 1.0 release?

David Tucker said:

@Saeed - Certainly - I will be sure to ask about the AIR version.

@Rick - All great questions. I have heard rumors about a few of these items, but I will do my best to get the answers directly tomorrow.

An AIR player is available at http://www.sliderocket.com/airinstall

It allows you to synchronize your presentations to offline and present them even when you don't have an Internet connection. Later on there will be a full AIR client to allow you to edit offline too.

I'll let David answer the rest after his chat with Mitch tomorrow but if anyone wants a private beta account please send an email to info@sliderocket.com referencing Dave's blog and we'll set you up.

Thanks

I would like to read what they have to say about developing a complex and responsive app with Flex. I hear quite often that "Flex is slow" (and it is when you don't pay attention to what you are doing) and would like to see more opinions by developers that have coded a successful app.

Thank you.

Hey David,

I know that you already met with the Sliderocket guys. I have been playing with the presentation tool in beta, but I don't know of a way to export the project to .ppt. Do you? Any Ideas?

Thanks,
Will
