I stumbled upon a new pattern library via, Information Design Patterns this week Nick Bouton's bookmarks. It's got some really neat patterns especially for anyone doing search or data visualization in RIAs. Let's add this to list of pattern resources I blogged about a while back.
I really like this pattern library, it seems to be covering some emerging and more cutting edge patterns. Every pattern contains a description (description, required data, usage, rationale), layout (screenshot or screencast) and real world example. There's a section right now for implementation but I couldn't find any patterns containing this yet, I think that will come later.
For example the "Linked Mulitples" pattern:
Other than the really well described and interesting patterns it has neat search features in the site itself. For example using the tag search you search by order principle, user goal, graphic class and number of dimensions. This is really handy because it gives you more points of entry when looking for a pattern to solve a specific UI problem. Another cool feature of this library is that some list called "feature similarity" that shows you other patterns with similar features.
The site is built by Christian Behrens a Flash designer and master's student at the Potsdam University of Applied Science and it's just first cut at it by the sounds of things. So if you're worried about the lack of permalinks and the fact that it's all Flash don't worry I think Christian is going to update it and hopefully we can get the book too! Thanks for providing this great resource Christian!
