Dreamweaver CS4 - Beta Demo

AddThis Social Bookmark Button

In case you haven't been following there's been some buzz about Dreamweaver recently and the next version is drastically improved for today's web developer. Whether you're focused on design or interactive user interfaces with JavaScript you should definitely take a look and download the beta. They're going away from WYISYG everything and just trying to make coding easier. In this screencast I caught up with Scott Fegette from the Dreamweaver product management team to get a demo of the new features.

I think the 2 biggest features of note for me are the live preview mode which now uses Webkit which is the same rendering engine as Safari and AIR so you can see what your site will actually look like from the IDE. The second important feature I think is the code completion for JavaScript and Ajax libraries, this is a big win for entry level and experienced web developers alike. Scott also mentions towards the just the first release of the vision for one of the most popular web development IDEs on the market today.

To bad there isnt any variable support in the code completion like aptana does, but still its a great update, and will make DW more loved under developers.

Yeah, good question Mike. Will it have support for ADDT. If not, no need rushing to upgrade.
