After three days at Web 2.0 Expo its time to sit back and have a laugh - which is always a good idea for a Friday afternoon. I can't help but feel that many of these web 2.0 start-ups are mostly really stupid - they remind me so much of the business ideas that characterize that last bubble its almost spooky. The best example are companies that are offering Enterprise Social Software - basically blogging, wiki-like functionality, and social networking all rolled into one but meant for "the enterprise" (i.e. large company, large organization, whatever). Exactly how many of these companies do we need? There are dozens of them.
Jnan Dash likes to say that RIA is the low hanging fruit for those who want to monetize the web 2.0 trend. I'm starting to think that the fruit closer to ground is the only good fruit.
OK, so now its time for a good laugh. Richard Treadway showed me this video from YouTube this week - its a great re purposing of a famous Bill Joel song. Have fun!
