The first official Flex BugQuash will occur Saturday , March 28th, from 10am-8pm PST.
What's a BugQuash, you ask? A mighty gathering of coding heroes from great to small coming together to fix as many bugs to the Flex SDK as possible in one day. The event is sponsored by Adobe but driven by the open-source Flex SDK community.
The event's agenda includes a keynote by Mark Anders of Adobe and lots of bug fixing all day long, with food provided. The event will be held in the Adobe U Conference Center in Seattle. Not in Seattle? Me neither - participate online through Connect.
Why participate? Beyond helping fix the platform you love so much and gain the good karma that comes along with open-source coding, you can make friends and network with other passionate developers, get your name out there, put your signature on the SDK, and win prizes.
I know what some of you are thinking: here goes Adobe trying to get the community to fix their bugs for them. Permit me one short moment to counter your cynicism. Open-source bug fixing is much better for everyone. Sure, Adobe gets free work out of the community, but we get our beloved framework fixed faster and tested better and gain valuable insight into the way things work. If you're a flex developer, a better framework means more opportunities for you to make money selling your services. You might recall that Flex, while run by Adobe, is completely open-sourced - you can build applications using the command line SDK without paying Adobe a cent.
If you're not interested in helping then don't - Adobe's support team will get to all (most) of these bugs eventually. But if you want to be part of the solution, then sign yourself up.

Not EST.
Thanks for writing about this. We're stoked!
Thanks Nate - I've updated the post. My mistake!
What do we need to set up prior to the event? Is the code all AS3 or is there Java code too? Is there a bug list that we can review prior to the event?
@Jason - Once you register for the event, you will receive a Pre-Event Kit which explains how to get started. We're also looking for Java developers who want to work on Flex SDK compilers issues as well. Any other questions, the contact information is in the Pre-Event Kit. Cheers.
