Welcome to jQuery FTW for April 18th, the "Lets forget last week never happened" edition since I wasn't able to write the entry! Hopefully this weeks set of links will be of use to folks, and as always, I'll remind people to please send me their links that they would like included in the post. Ok, let's see what we have up this week.

  • First up is a blog entry from Brian Rinaldi: Using jQuery to Confirm Cancel Changes on a Form. As you can guess, the entry discusses how you can use jQuery to confirm cancel operations on a form. He set it up so that you only get a confirmation if the values in the form have actually changed.
  • Next up is a blog entry from... yes, Brian again. He gets brownie points for having two cool articles in this weeks list. The second entry is: Validating Common Email Domain Misspellings using ColdFusion and jQuery This is easily one of the coolest things I've seen in a while. Brian uses autocomplete not to offer suggestions but to rather help fix misspellings. He uses a Levenshtein distance formula on the server side to determine possible correct spellings for common email domains. Definitely check this one out.
  • James Carr created an interesting jQuery plugin: Link URLS with jQuery This will scan text for URLs and create proper links out of them. I've done this in ColdFusion for a while now but I can see a client-side solution being very useful.
  • Next up is ImageSwitch, a plugin that handles transitions between images. I don't typically care for stuff like this, but I was pretty impressed by this. The Fade In version is especiall cool.
  • Another interesting plugin, jStore, provides an API to cover multiple common storage mechanisms available in browsers. This is an area that I'd like to get into more, and seeing a plugin that helps standardize various engines is a great thing.
