I choose other since our application does integrate a Twitter experience (a simple one for now), but we don't plan to do any extra Twitter development for a few months.

Twitter has exploded in the past year or so, so anybody thinking about becoming a developer for Twitter it would be a great move. Just recently I heard on the news that Ashton Kutcher was in a battle with CNN to see who would reach a million twitter followers first. I think the site will continue to increase in popularity over the next couple of years.

Twitter is huge at the moment so probably a good move. Don't think i'll have time to do anything soon though.

This is going to sound like one of those "people from the street" that they "interview" in The Onion, but I didn't know Twitter had an API and much less what types of apps could be developed, except the nth Twitter client.

Frankly speaking, I wouldn't totally trust Twitter and other similar resources. Now more and more people start thinking about refusing using twitter (have a look on the statistics on twitter visits at http://www.picktorrent.com ), thus, perhaps, one day your attempts will become useless.

Being able to offer data in a visual form like this can really help to reveal patterns in the data more quickly than standard charts and graphs. Custom Dissertation.

Twitter is pretty good option for social networking.

I said other. There are some similar services that I have worked with, some of which are challenging Twitter's hegemony in parts of the world - including areas with a booming medical tourism industry. It'll be really interesting to see how Twitter manages to monetize it's massive user base.
