FEATURED: Adobe Partners with Facebook to Develop AS3 API
Technologies: Flash, Flex, FacebookThis week Adobe announced a partnership with Facebook that will enable Flash Platform developers to more easily integrate with the social network. The main tool that has been provided to developers is an ActionScript 3 API that will be kept up-to-date by both Adobe and Facebook. This API is available on Google Code. Another helpful resource provided is the new Facebook platform site on the Adobe Developer Connection. This site contains video tutorials, an API overview, and many resources that will help any Flex/Flash developer get started with their first Facebook application.

Ribbit Allows Developers to Decide Which API is Next
Technologies: VOIPAt SXSW Ribbit announced that the Ribbit platform was expanding beyond just Flash/Flex applications. This announcement also included a REST based API. They also mentioned that developers would be able to vote to see which language the team would focus on next. This week, Ribbit fulfilled that promise by creating a site where users can vote between PHP, Java, ActionScript, .NET, Ruby, Python, C/C#, Ajax, or something else. The voting is open now.

Easily include Silverlight Content in Wordpress
Technologies: SilverlightTim Heuer completed a plug-in this week that easily allows Wordpress to include Silverlight content within a post. Tim covers the specifics in his post, and he provides a link to the download on Wordpress.org.

Web Version of Tour De Flex Launched
Technologies: Flex, AIRThe Tour De Flex application from Adobe is a great way to see what is possible with Flex, and even see the code behind any of its many samples. Previously, this application was only available as an AIR application. Last week, a new web version was released (along with an update to the AIR application). The new version includes many new samples, and the web version even includes deep linking. This means that you can take a specific sample within the application and send the link to a friend.

Some Silverlight 3 Examples
Technologies: SilverlightShawn Wildermuth highlights some of the new Silverlight 3 features using the new Silverlight 3 SDK that was recently released at Mix'09. In this post he covers Local Connection (which can enable multiple Silverlight applications to talk with one another), Navigation Applications (which allows your application to utilize the browser's history control with the forward and back buttons), and ChildWindow (which allows for pop-up dialogs).

JavaFX 1.1.1 Released
Technologies:Sun recently released an update for both JavaFX and Netbeans. JavaFX 1.1.1 includes several bug fixes including several targeted specifically at media playback. Netbeans 6.5.1 includes support for the updated version of JavaFX. Both are available to download today.

Dojo 1.3 Released
Technologies: AjaxAfter being around for a while as various release candidates, Dojo 1.3 was finally released. Plugd was also launched. Plugd is a plug-in that allows for some functionality and coding style not usually seen in Dojo, and it might be welcome for developers used to working in jQuery.

Finding Vulnerabilities in SWF Files
Technologies: Flash, FlexBen Forta recently highlighted a new application from HP that enables developers to look for security vulnerabilities within SWF applications. This utility, SWF Scan, is available for Windows, and it searched for many common security issues found within SWF files. HP worked closely with Adobe to be sure that the applications correlates with Adobe's best practices for Flash/Flex development.

New GeoSpatial Visualization We Application in Beta
Technologies: FlexUniversal Mind released the next iteration of SpatialKey into private beta. SpatialKey is a next-generation tool for viewing geo-spatial data within the browser. The new version allows users to upload their data in CSV format and choose from many different types of reports. In addition, they released a video highlighting the new functionality.

Appcelerator Titanium Reaches PR3
Technologies: TitaniumAppcelerator's Titanium reached another milestone this week reaching version PR3. This takes the runtime one step closer to a 1.0 release. This iteration includes improved Ruby and Python support as well as an 'App Store' style site for Titanium applications. This also includes download metrics and other tools for developers (including the ability to make an application public/private). The Titanium team has announced that the next release of Titanium will be a Beta release and that a GA release should be coming in June.
