Kind of old news (only a week), but Adobe recently released a beta version of LCDS 3.0 on Adobe Labs.
The two big features in LCDS 3.0 seem to be Model Driven Development and Quality of Service/throttling/caching from the server side. Model driven development is an accelerated development methodology centered upon development around the data model.
Model Driven Developent with LCDS 3.0 is centered around the Fiber model runtime:
Adobe has developed a new technology, code named Fiber, which brings model-driven development to Flex developers. With Fiber, developers start by creating an application model from which they go on to develop the Flex user interface and the server business logic. It is easier and quicker to now develop Flex applications with Flash Builder 4 and LiveCycle Data Services 3. (excerpt from here)
LCDS 3.0 also comes with a plugin for Flex Builder 4 that allows for data modelling within the IDE:
