It has been a long and hard road getting to this point with a few road blocks in the way. If you have been following along with the progressions of the last few weeks, you probably are already aware of the issues that arose along the way.
As I previously stated, our best choice to resolve the poll and choose our featured Adobe MAX applications was to let the talented group of InsideRIA authors make the final decision. Many have asked why we didn't do a re-vote. The simple reason is that our session slide deck is due very soon and due to this short time frame available to address these irregularities, O’Reilly’s tech staff and InsideRIA managers Steve & Rich concluded that attempting to implement Captcha (or other such solutions) into our existing infrastructure wasn’t feasible.
Needless to say, we’re both flattered that so many people participated—in the poll and in the debate that ensued—and disappointed that what we thought would be an informal, good-natured community-query process turned into such an exploding-punchbowl moment. “After all,” we told ourselves, “it’s not like we’re awarding prizes or that there’s anything of real value at stake here.”
So, this all turns out to be one of those learning moments, where we scratch our heads and ask ourselves how we didn’t see the potential for polling irregularities. We’re working on a solution to prevent this kind of polling inequity from happening in the future and would like to say thank you for the thousands of you who participated in our polls.
With that being said, it is now time to present the 3 semi finalists who will have their applications discussed at our Adobe MAX session.
Drumroll please.......
Congratulations to the top 3 finishers. See you at MAX!

Congrats to all the finalists and thanks to Rich and the other folks who put this together. I'm thrilled to have been included in the original poll.
I'm really glad to see Balsamiq make the list - it's a great app.
Awesome! We're thrilled to have been picked.
Best,
Avi
this is predetermined results as someone commented,as the top 3 comes from the 50 list by Theresa Neil
What an unsurprising result! I guess the "talented group of InsideRIA authors" had to work very hard for the already known result! Way to go InsideRIA.
Digital Tutors are in the top 3 even though someone actually commented about some issue with their player in this post http://www.insideria.com/2009/08/new-poll-the-best-of-ria-2009-1.html . On what basis were the finalists selected?
Everything is done as it was expected. Well done, guys.
This is my last visit of InsideRia. You've great resource until you've made such a fool decision.
Saying that integrating secure voting method is time consuming is not good excuse anyway, you could always employ some of the third party voting software, like many other respectful companies do.
Example: http://eballot30.votenet.com/, http://www.vote-pro.com/ etc.
There are hundreds of hosted applications that assist with voting process.
Now as everybody expected here, authors didn't have time or motivation for deep through analysis oа 20 new applications, so they've chosen the ones they know. The recent published TOP 50 RIAs was a great help too.
P.S. This is pissing me off really, it would be better if you simply shut down the voting and choose by yourself.
Congratulations to the finalists and thank you InsideRIA for selecting Yooba for top 20 this year.
Thank you to all of the authors at O'Reilly that voted for our app. This has been 3 1/2 years in the making and it is great to be recognized. I can't wait for the session and we'll see you at MAX.
Thanks again,
Piyush
