InsideRIA had three sessions at Adobe MAX this year: The Battle of the Flex Frameworks Returns, with Greg Owen; Augmented Reality within the Flash Player, with Jesse Freeman and James Alliban; and InsideRIA's Secrets of the Best Rich Internet Apps of 2009 (So Far) , with Garth Braithwaite. Watch the videos below.
The Battle of the Flex Frameworks Returns
Greg OwenThe 2008 version of this session was the most heavily attended session at MAX. This year, in response to audience feedback from last year, we’ll hold a direct debate about the advantages and drawbacks to using specific Flex frameworks in development scenarios. GOAL: Learn Flex application design (architecture) strategies. Panelists who offer varying perspectives on architectural issues and the patterns they use will debate the different ways to deal with architectural problems. Attendees will see that there are many different and valid approaches and hear about the upsides and pitfalls of each.

Jesse FreemanAugmented Reality (AR) is a topic that has been all over the news and has been gaining momentum lately within the Rich Internet Application development community. This session will show how to do Augmented Reality within the Flash Player (including coverage of tools required). You will see cutting-edge live examples of the technology in use, as we discuss how AR is being used in real-world applications to enhance user experience and push the envelope in RIA design and development.

Garth BraithwaiteOver the course of the summer, InsideRIA contributors and community members voted on the top 5 RIAs of the year, based on innovation, creativity, and general popularity. Session hosts Garth Braithwaite and Rich Tretola will deconstruct each site and do Q&A with the site's rep and the audience. GOAL is to better understand the essence of what's setting the standard for success in RIA design and development, plus to give public recognition for top-quality work.
