Since the release of iPhone 2.0 and iPhoneDevCamp I've been looking at a lot iPhone apps, development tools and other interesting projects. It might be debatable whether a native app written Objective-C is an RIA, but most of the are internet connected at least part of the time and lots of the coolest iPhone apps I'm using run right in Safari on the iPhone. It's not however debatable whether or not iPhone has raised the bar for slick and aesthetically pleasing UIs and if you're going to develop a web app or native app for the iPhone you need to meet that bar to succeed. On that note here are a couple resources to make your iPhone apps look like Apple's very own apps!

Omnigraffle Stencils

For the early stages of interface designs we use Omnigraffle to get the wireframes done then moved on to mockups. This stencil will help get your closer to your final product. Thanks to Theresa Neil for sharing these with the community)

This is a basic stencil for creating wire frames for iPhone web applications.

Includes standard components like form fields, buttons, dialogs, key boards, lists, loading icon, selected state.

Download them here.

Photoshop PSD Files

The crew over at Teehan+LAX have been putting together lots of iPhone designs for presentations and have posted these graphics for your use. These are Photoshop Files for most of the graphic assets needed to design your iPhone app. They're all full editable!

Download the PSD here.

Let me know how these work for you and please do send on any other resources for mobile RIA developers you come across.

Hi,

I wanted to point out a very old-school design tool that I came up with when working on my very first iPhone app design. It's a sketchbook geared for conceptualizing your iPhone app using pencil and paper, if you can believe that! Although I did a more polished graphical prototype, this tool was indispensible. I made it available here:

Thanks!
