MAX Award Finalist NASDAQ Market Replay (v 2)

MAX 2008 is upon us. Last year I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to contribute to the MAX Award winning application eBay Desktop while working at EffectiveUI. This year I had the privilege to work with NASDAQ's team on NASDAQ Market Replay version 2 as a Universal Mind consultant.

Please take a minute to check out Market Replay and remember to vote for early and often for Market Replay in the people's choice award category.

NASDAQ Market Replay is a break through enterprise SaaS application in the financial vertical. The application leverages Adobe's Flex and AIR technologies as well as Amazon's S3 Web Services. It's exciting to see how Flex and AIR enhance the value of the SaaS model.

Some of the features I helped implement to enhance version two include adding: trade data, additional summary data, and some UI/UX enhancements. The first version of the application included quote data (financial data that reports available orders to buy and sell in a market center). In version two we added the ability to visualize and analyze trade data (the actual trade of a stock). We also worked to add an additional summary column, the right most side of the app. This summary data gives a view of a trade or quote data over a selected period of time. Last but not least, we added several elements to the UI that allow it to be more flexibly configured. This feature allows the users to customize a view that suits their needs for data analysis.

On the project we used Adobe's Flex IDE, Flex Builder. The Flex charting framework was also used to create the application. We made many extensions to the charting framework to give the user the ability to zoom, pan, select time spans, and take screen shots of the chart.

Soon I'll be posting details regarding what I'll be up to at MAX 2008 on my blog www.adamflater.net.

thanks, and see you at MAX!

I think I saw a version of this at Flex Camp Boston last year.

Anyway, when I visit the page and try to install the AIR application with the Install Now badge, a prompt verifying that I want to install the AIR runtime is cut-off and I can't click Yet. So the app won't install.
