New Poll: What is the next RIA technology you want to get involved with?

Technology is constantly changing at rapid fire speeds and this also holds true for RIA technologies. To stay marketable a top notch developer must continue to add new tools to his/her skill set. Choosing which technologies to learn can be difficult. Sometimes, you may wish to go towards one technology but market conditions force you towards another.

So, this weeks question is "What is the next RIA technology you want to get involved with?" To participate in this new poll please click here.

Recently I have been very interested in mobile so my answer would probably be either iPhone or Android.

How are the Android and iPhone platforms an RIA? They are both, especially the iPhone, a computing platform.

@Zac - being an iPhone developer .. I can tell ya, developing for iPhone is much like developing for Adobe AIR ... most of the apps are always connected somehow to the internet or syncing to the internet. And when you look at most of these apps (besides games) ... they are really websites that people scaled down for the iphone.

I think iPhone and Android apps can be considered RIA's. That's just my personal opinion.

Currently I don't have plans to pursue another RIA technology. I already develop in Flex, Flash, AIR, AJAX and iPhone. Nothing else really grabs me right now.

Android is interesting, but I'm very unlikely to go there.

AJAX does have its own category. As there are many AJAX frameworks (dojo, YUI, prototype, jQuery, Ext JS, etc). We simply chose to include AJAX as a single choice. Perhaps a future poll can drill into individual AJAX framework preferences among developers.

I disagree that iPhone apps can be considered true RIA apps in that their development doesn't have to address the challenges of running off of the browser. Developing an iPhone app means targeting one environment. Developing an RIA means targeting many. So it's not a fair comparison. That kind of comparison has more to do with the debate about web based apps versus desktop ones. And that debate is a very different one.

For my money, I'm still betting on the Flash platform. Does it have it's drawbacks, yes. But no other technology out there can match the diversity of content and richness of presentation with the high level of reliability that Flash can offer. If you develop an RIA in Flash 95-99% of users will be able to experience it period.
