Touchless Brain-Sensor Interfaces

The Graz Institute of Technology in Austria demos a new touchless interface system called Brain Loop that responds to user thoughts. This entry includes a video of Brain Loop in action narrated by a creepy computerized voice that doesn't allay my fears that this thing will turn us all into cyborgs one day, but some of you are probably into that sort of thing.

Sure, your wii-mote is a cool new way to interact with video games, but what if you didn't need to do anything but think about swinging that tennis racquet? I've seen a few demos of this sort of technology in the past but this one is by far the longest and most well developed.

The technology is called Brain Loop, and it's developed by the Graz Institute of Technology in Austria. Here's a video of Brain Loop in action - the creepy computerized narrator doesn't do anything to allay my fears that this thing will turn us all into cyborgs one day, but some of you are probably into that sort of thing:

Brain loop was recently featured at Wired NextFest and I'm excited to see how it develops. Expect to see all those debates about Google scanning the content of your email move towards privacy rights and scanning the content of your brain very very soon.

For more info check out this entry on the PaulTech Network.

Thanks to Eddie Breidenbach for sending this my way.
